Early Learning Intensive Supports (ELIS)

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Education’s Early Learning Intensive Support Program is for three and four-year old children with significant developmental delays requiring intensive support to meet their potential. A medical diagnosis is not required to qualify but there are a limited number of spaces available so not all children will be accepted to receive this support.  Factors such as the age of the child and other available services may impact selection. And, although children who are three or four years of age can attend the program, priority will be given to four year olds with preference to children who are not enrolled in another early learning program where intensive supports are being provided.

Additional spaces and supports in a limited number of Pre-Kindergarten programs at Mother Teresa ECEC will provide opportunities for children that reside in Saskatchewan to engage in inclusive learning with other children the same age. Support will be provided through a collaborative team approach to meet individualized needs and to promote strengths from learning and participation. The unique needs and circumstances of the child, the class and facility will be considered for each situation.

Please see the Early Learning Intensive Supports brochure for additional information for families. Kindergarten Plus+ and Full-Time Kindergarten

lcsd-kindergarten

We encourage you and your child to visit our Kindergarten programs and tour our schools prior to your child beginning school.

Lloydminster Catholic School Division has expanded regular English and French Immersion Kindergarten programming to 60% from 50%.  This expanded program, known as Kindergarten Plus+, is offered in Father Gorman Community School, St. Mary's Elementary School, St. Joseph Elementary School and École St. Thomas.  This allows for a schedule of three consistent full days a week. The added time includes small groups of students working with teachers to further develop their pre-literacy and numeracy skills. Each program is parallel, focusing on the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual needs of your child. Your child will be exposed to a multitude of activities that promote individual growth and development.

Mother Teresa Early Childhood Education Center provides parents with the opportunity to register their child in city-wide full time Kindergarten programming.  This full time Kindergarten program (for eligible children) is only offered at Mother Teresa Early Childhood Education Center.  The program is paralleled to Kindergarten Plus+, with additional time to further enhance student skills.

We see Kindergarten as a key phase in your child’s development. Therefore, we encourage you and your child to visit our Kindergarten programs and tour our schools prior to your child beginning school. Children who are five (5) years of age as of December 31 of the current school year shall be admitted to Kindergarten.

Sports Activity

Basketball Academy with Golden Ticket Sports

The Lloydminster Catholic School Division is honoured and excited to announce an additional opportunity for student athletes in two LCSD schools starting in September 2021. As part of its commitment to developing the whole child, LCSD is pleased to announce a NEW Basketball Academy at St. Mary’s Elementary and Ecole St.Thomas for students from Grades 5 to 7.

🏀 The concept stems from discussions centred on Canada’s Sport For Life Long-Term Athlete Development work combined with the number of student athletes participating in the sport of basketball at the schools. Together we have built a program that will see over one hundred hours of elite coaching and basketball instruction for students.

🏀 Focused on athlete development and nurturing the love of basketball, the student athletes will enhance their skills, knowledge and mental aspects of the game as well as learn many skills that can easily transfer to other sports and aspects of life.

Language Instruction & EAL

Our school division offers French Immersion programming from Kindergarten to grade 12. École St. Thomas is a single-track elementary French Immersion school. When students complete grade 7 at École St. Thomas, they move to Holy Rosary High School, a dual-track French Immersion/English high school. It is highly recommended that students begin their French Immersion journey in Kindergarten or grade 1, but there are programs in place to allow students to gain late-entry into French Immersion.

Our school division offers French Immersion programming from Kindergarten to grade 12

Holy Rosary High School, St. Mary's Elementary School, St. Joseph Elementary School and Father Gorman Community School all offer French programming. Intensive French is also offered in grades 8 to 12 at Holy Rosary High School.

St. Joseph Elementary School, St. Mary's Elementary School and Father Gorman Community School offer an Intensive French program to students in grade 6, where students take the majority of their courses in French for the first half of the year and receive follow-up in the following semester and future years.
