Special Services
Each school within the Lloydminster Catholic School Division provides specialized programming for students. It is our belief that all students as individuals will learn with appropriate supports and programming in place. Inclusive education is predominant within the school division and this model is included within our current practice of service delivery. Our personnel encompass a collaborative approach in establishing programs for students. Thus parents, student, school personnel, and other necessary players are part of the decision making team. This allows for open communication and an assurance that all aspects of the child are addressed when focusing on student needs.
1) Personal Counselors
Michelle Sperle / Robin Collins / Michelle Lopez /
Maria Rideout
Each of the schools in Lloydminster Catholic School Division has a Personal Counselor that students can access. The Personal Counselors focus on:
- Providing personal and social counseling to students
Our counselors meet with students individually to assist the student to address personal difficulties that arise. Counselors will serve as supports in a confidential environment that allows students to work through their personal difficulties.
- Coordinates supports for students from community agencies in certain circumstances where students need additional supports, the Personal Counselor will ensure that proper contacts are provided to the student and assist them in accessing the needed service. The Personal Counselor will also serve as a coordinator of services to assure that the student is receiving the appropriate service.
- Promotes positive lifestyles
At all levels, positive lifestyle is an important aspect for our students. To promote this, our counselors work with the schools to set up activities that will provide students with information and practical ideas regarding the various aspects of positive lifestyles.

2) Educational Psychologist
Dave MacLean
The Educational Psychologist is a member of our student services team that assists in gathering information for teachers and/or parents when students are experiencing difficulties in learning. The Educational Psychologist will assist by assessing a student's learning style as well as identifying areas of strengths and needs the student possesses. Information is shared with the teachers and parents and, together, formulate a plan to help the student become more successful.
3) Speech Language Pathologist
Ronda Day
Imagine a world without words... it's pretty difficult. So much of what we learn at school is through listening and speaking, reading and writing. Speech and language are the building blocks of learning to read and write. It makes sense, then, that students who have trouble with speech and language may find school difficult. Think about your relationships with friends and family. Talking and listening allows us to create and enjoy relationships. When a person has trouble communicating, making and keeping friends can be difficult. Good communication skills are very important to school success and enjoyment of life in general. The Speech-Language Therapy Program is here to help children develop communication skills.
